WTCR and CTCC Amazed Ningbo with the Extreme of Speed

On Sep 29 and 30, Ningbo International Circuit witnessed a thrilling race weekend consisting of FIA WTCR/OSCARO World Touring Car Cup and SINOPEC China Touring Car Championship. Ye Hongli from Dongfeng Yueda Kia Racing Team did a great job and won the 14-lap race on Sunday. He also brought back a Manufacture’s Champion together with his teammate Zhang Zhiqiang, who finished the 2nd. SAIC Volkswagen 333 Racing Team’s Rodolfo Avila finished the 3rd. In China Cup, Motive Racing Team won the Club Cup thanks to Peng Lixin’s first victory in CTCC and Xie Jiaxing’s 3rd position in the race. GAC Toyota Racing Team’s Deng Baowei won the 2nd, and the team won the Manufacture’s Champion. The TAG Heuer Speed Award of Ningbo went to Rodolfo Avila and Zongheng Racing Team’s Wu Xiaofeng for their fastest lap time in the qualifying session.

Super Cup: Ye Hongli Led the Championship after another Victory

According to the drawing results, top 11th drivers in the race on Saturday will start in a reverse order on the main event on Sunday. Xie Xinzhe who started from pole position were shortly surpassed by Zhang Zhiqiang. Ye Hongli started from the 9th but climbed up to the 3rd within one lap. Meanwhile, Cao Hongwei also pushed hard and climbed up into the top 5th from 11th.

In the second half of the race, Zhang Zhiqiang had an intensive fight with SAIC Volkswagen 333 Racing Team’s Andrea Couto for the leading position. Behind them, Ye Hongli had to defend the attack from Avila, while Cao Hongwei was in two seconds away. Couto saw a chance in the hairpin on the peak of the hill to overpass Zhang Zhiqiang, but he failed. Ye Hongli made full use of this opportunity by overtaking Couto from inside. In the last lap, Cao Hongwei ran into the gravel and lost the 3rd to Avila.

China Cup: Peng Lixin Saw His Maiden Victory in CTCC

The competition in China Cup was fierce. Xie Jiaxing dropped to the 4th after the race started. LEO Racing’s Li Lin fought hard with GAC Toyota Racing Team’s Deng Baowei. Meanwhile, Liu Yang climbed up to the 5th. As the race went on, Peng Lixin was able to create a comfortable gap in the front, with Deng Baowei in the 2nd.

In the second half of the race, Zongheng Racing Team’s Yang Xi had a difficult battle with LEO Racing’s three cars for the 3rd position, and retired due to the damage caused by the fight. In the last two laps, Xie Jiaxing made a strong attack on Liu Yang and secured his third place.

WTCR: Exciting Races Cheered Up the Weekend

WTCR had two races on Sunday, with YMR Racing’s #48 Yvan Muller and #11 winning the victory respectively. Thanks to their effort, YMR dominated the whole weekend by three constant wins.

In the Chinese Racing Cup, LEO Racing’s Li Lin won the 8-lap race on Sunday. This was also his second victory in the series of 2018.
