20,000 Fans Joined the Celebration of CTCC’s 15th Anniversary

In the second round of Biauto China Touring Car Championship 2019 held in Shanghai International Circuit on June 2, SAIC Volkswagen 333 Racing Team’s Rodolfo Avila, Zhang Zhendong and Robert Huff dominated the race on Sunday by clinching the top three and brought back the Manufacturers’ Champion of Super Cup for the team. In China Cup, Xing Zhi Lu Racing Team’s Sun Anning converted pole to victory. Behind him were Zongheng Racing Team’s Wu Xiaofeng and Yan Chuang. With Wu and Yan’s effort, Zongheng Racing Team won the Manufacturers’ Champion of China Cup.

The TAG Heuer Speed Award went to SAIC Volkswagen 333 Racing Team’s Robert Huff and Xing Zhi Lu Racing Team’s Sun Anning for their fastest lap time in qualifying session of each category.

2019 marks the 15th anniversary of China Tour Car Championship (formerly known as China Circuit Championship). In the race weekend in Shanghai, over twenty thousands of fans celebrated this anniversary together with the drivers and the teams.

Super Cup: SAIC Volkswagen Won the Home Victory

In the race held on Sunday, SAIC Volkswagen 333 Racing Team continued impressing the fans and the rivals by their excellent speed shown in the qualifying session, while David Zhu of BAIC Racing Team, the Manufacturers’ Champion of the race on Saturday, has been chasing the three fastest drivers, showing his strong determination. 

The tyre plays a crucial role in the 10-lap race. Dongfeng Yueda Kia Racing Team’s Cao Hongwei, starting from the 10th, has been pushing hard. In the last lap, he managed to surpass David Zhu in the fifth last turn and finished the 4th, bringing the most dramatic moment in the race.

Changan Ford Racing Team’s He Xiaole finished the 7th. He said that the season has just begun and the team is still groping for better adjustment. When the team arrived at Jiading, Changan Ford’s fans gathered to cheer for the competition. They wore the signified blue shirt and waved the blue flags while sitting on the grand stand. Their passion greatly inspired the drivers and the team.

GAC Toyota Racing Team, the new comer of Super Cup, has been making progress in the brutal competition. It is believed that they have collected a lot of data on the track and will be able to go further in the next round.

China Cup: Drivers’ Glory Relies on the Team’s Effort

Compared with the chaos in the race on Saturday, it was peaceful on Sunday. Thanks to the team’s overnight hard work to rebuild the damaged car, Xing Zhilu Racing Team’s Sun Anning was able to convert the pole to win in the race on Sunday after a severe accident on Saturday.

Zongheng Racing Team’s Wu Xiaofeng and Yan Chuang won the 2nd and 3rd. Half of the credit here is also owned by the technicians. When asked how the team helped the driver, Yan Yan smiled and responded: "My car was almost ruined in the first round.  The team managed to fix it. I believe that there is no difficulty can stop us.” Dongfeng Fengshen Racing Team also had a good harvest this weekend. Huang Fujin brought back the runner-up in the first race. Yang Xi also achieved the 4th on Sunday. It is believed that they have already found the car’s pace and will go smoothly in the future.

Apart from CTCC, Audi R8 LMS Cup, TCR Asia, TCR China and Chinese Racing Cup also joined race weekend, giving the fans an unforgettable weekend.
