After a three week rest, the China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) is moving into Zhuhai International Circuit this weekend for R2 of the 2012 season. Considered by the Changan Ford Racing Team as one of its home courts, the team did score a lot of success here.
Without taking away the credit from the team, the R1 New Focus 1234 clean sweep in SIC three weeks ago was way over the expectation of everyone. But with the anticipation of hotter weather, heavier car, and combining with the special characteristics of ZIC brake and accelerate circuit design, the challenge is really very different comparing to R1 in SIC. The team will continue to use the winning formulation for R1 by making sure all the fundamentals are covered and everything is triple checked.
John Ling, Team manager of Changan Ford Racing Team indicated: “The team did an incredible job in the opening race. But we know the key to win the race is to finish the race so the reliability of the cars, especially for these newly designed and built ones, is paramount. We are continuing to attend to all details and work on our development program. I am sure the organizer is going to apply additional weight to our cars so we have to work harder to reset the cars to compensate and hopefully come out as winners again.”
